Stabling specialist Loddon joins Camellia PLC
One of the biggest names in stabling, Norfolk-based Loddon, has been acquired by Camellia PLC.
An international group of companies, Camellia is listed on the London Stock Exchange and employs more than 75,000 people around the world in industries as diverse as agriculture, private banking, food storage, engineering, pharmaceuticals and insurance.
The group has acquired the stabling business from Loddon Ltd and will continue to operate and develop the Loddon brand from the same premises in the village near Norwich after which it is named. The new company, a TMS client, will trade as Loddon Engineering Ltd.
The Loddon name has been associated with high quality stabling for more than 40 years, with customers ranging from individual horse enthusiasts to international racing yards. The Loddon name appears on stables around the world, including those at the New York Police Department and the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
Roger Buck, managing director, said, “This is good news for our customers and our 13-strong workforce, and will hopefully provide the foundations for our next four decades in business.
“In order for us to grow and develop new products it was essential for us to seek the backing of a major global company like Camellia, who have seen not only what Loddon has achieved in the past but what it is capable of in the future. We’re moving into 2010 with great confidence and are keen to develop our markets in the UK and Ireland, the United States, Europe and the Middle East.”
Loddon designs, manufactures and installs high quality stables, ranging from a few boxes to large complexes comprising hundreds of boxes. Past clients include celebrities, racehorse trainers, the Nad Al Sheba Racecourse in Dubai, the Singapore Turf Club and the Royal Stud at Sandringham.
