College proves a flexible friend
For one day a week over the last two years more than 150 pupils from schools across Norfolk have been leaving their classrooms behind.
Instead they have headed for TMS client Easton College to prepare for the workplace by sharpening their skills in the world of agriculture, the countryside, animal care, plants and tress, sport and public services.
And now their new skills have been recognised with an official presentation and news that the Government is so impressed by such initiatives that it plans to make them available to 14-year-olds across the country by 2013.
There was praise for Easton College’s high standards and its passion for learning from Lisa Christenson, Norfolk County Council’s director of children’s services, who presented certificates and awards to more than 150 students.
College principal David Lawrence said the opportunities offered to the Years 10 and 11 school pupils were of vital importance to their future and to the whole country. It would make a big contribution to their working life and played a vital role in improving the country’s skills.
