Rising success of 3sun
Graham Hacon has seen turnover of his flourishing new Great Yarmouth business 3sun leap to more than £1m in its first year.
Backed by an experienced workforce, with Peter Beales at the helm, the company completed several construction and marine related jobs in the UK and Malta in 2007 and, as a result, has just been awarded further contracts worth £1.5m.
One of the Maltese deals was part of an engineering project to cut into a ship and add a 12m section to convert it into a transport vessel which will submerge sufficiently to float large structures such as drilling rigs on to its deck while at sea.
The 3sun business, a TMS Media client, provides instrumentation and control services particularly to the oil, gas and marine industry and is built around a network of close relationships within the industry.
And its success could open up opportunities for engineering skills to be brought back to Great Yarmouth rather than basing themselves in other parts of the world.
3sun is very supportive of local enterprises and, in addition to running the company, Graham is vice chairman of EEEGR and a board member of the Skills for Energy initiative.
